In this thesis, four topics related to image analysis are investigated: filtering, color segmentation, contour detection, and symmetry quantification for shape, color, and texture information. The three first topics are essential to detect efficiently the objects of interest present in the image, and to allow their analysis and classification. The use of features such as the degree of symmetry are necessary to this application.
